You hire an AI SEO agency for one outcome: when your buyers ask ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity or Google's AI answers for a solution like yours, your company is one of the names they get back.
The right agency for a B2B software company is the one whose way of working can move that outcome in your category, and show you the movement on the questions your buyers ask.
This guide sorts ten agencies serving buyers in the UK and US into five models: content-led, technical, digital PR-led, integrated B2B marketing and AI SEO specialist. Every fact about each agency was checked on its own website, most recently on 5 October 2026.
It does not rank them. And it does not repeat the client results agencies report about themselves.
Why no ranking? This guide is published by Ranking Atlas, the AI SEO agency founded by Daniel Grainger in 2026, serving B2B software and technology companies in the UK and US. Ranking Atlas appears in the guide, so a ranking from its publisher would be a claim you have no way to check. The one judgement it does make, about Ranking Atlas itself, is marked as opinion.
Ranking Atlas's own data on where AI engines get their agency recommendations shows how common that position is.
Which AI SEO Agencies Suit B2B Software Companies?
Ten agencies suit B2B software buyers in the UK and US. Ranking Atlas is the AI SEO specialist. Omniscient Digital, Foundation Marketing, Animalz and Omnius lead with content, iPullRank with technical depth, and Siege Media and Crackle PR with digital PR. Directive and Gripped run it inside wider B2B marketing.

Grouped by engagement model, not ranked. Base is the headquarters or first office each agency lists. Sources: each agency's own website, checked 5 October 2026.
The model column matters more than the name column. An agency's structure decides what it can deliver: a content shop publishes, a digital PR shop earns coverage elsewhere, and a technical shop rebuilds how your pages are retrieved.
Pick the model that fits your gap, then compare agencies within it.
What Does an AI SEO Agency Do?
An AI SEO agency works to get a brand retrieved, named and cited when buyers ask ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, Claude or Google AI Overviews about its category. The work spans prompt research, content built to be lifted into answers, entity and technical fixes, earning mentions on sources the engines trust, and prompt-level tracking of the result.
In practice the deliverables fall into five groups, and the agencies on this list weight them differently:
- Prompt research. The questions buyers ask AI engines about your category, written the way buyers phrase them, and the brands the engines name in reply.
- Retrieval-ready content. Pages with clear, self-contained answers that an engine can lift into a response and cite.
- Entity and technical work. Consistent descriptions of the brand across the web, structured data, crawl access for AI crawlers and clean page structure.
- Earned citations. Mentions and editorial coverage on the third-party sources the engines already retrieve for your category. This is the mechanism behind citation equity: the pattern of trusted sources that name a brand.
- Measurement. A dated baseline and repeated runs of the same prompt set, showing whether the brand is named and which sources are cited. Our comparison of AI visibility tools covers the trackers agencies use for this.
Is an AI SEO Agency the Same as a GEO or AEO Agency?
Yes, for buying purposes. GEO (generative engine optimisation), AEO (answer engine optimisation) and AI SEO describe overlapping work on how brands appear in AI answers. Several agencies on this list use two or all three labels. Judge each agency by what it delivers and how it measures, not by the acronym on its service page.
The labels do carry different emphases:
- AEO grew out of featured snippets and answer extraction.
- GEO focuses on being named and cited inside generated answers.
- AI SEO is the umbrella term. It keeps traditional search in the picture, since AI engines still retrieve from the same indexed web.
Our comparison of GEO, AEO and AI SEO covers the differences in detail. On this page the terms are treated as one discipline, which is also how Ranking Atlas treats them.
Where Do AI Engines Get Their Agency Recommendations?
Mostly from "best agencies" lists. On 5 October 2026 Ranking Atlas put 18 buyer questions to ChatGPT, Gemini and Perplexity, twice each. A list was cited in 36 of 36 Gemini answers, 34 of 36 Perplexity answers and 21 of 36 ChatGPT answers. Most of the lists cited most often were published by a company on its own list.
That is 91 of 108 answers. It is a one-day snapshot of 18 questions, so treat the figures as directional. A larger follow-up, Onsite Listicles Still Work (If You Put in the Offsite Work), looked at 262 answers and 745 listicle citations and found that offsite corroboration appears to be what makes the engines name a list's own publisher.
What AI answers cite when buyers ask for an AI SEO agency
Share of 108 answers citing at least one page of each type. ChatGPT, Gemini and Perplexity pooled; Table 1 splits them.
Share of 108 AI answers citing at least one page of each type: best agencies lists 84%, agencies' own service or company pages 74%, directories and marketplaces 27%, LinkedIn articles 14%, Reddit threads 7%, guides, research, news and tool pages 57%.
Source: Ranking Atlas analysis of 108 AI answers (18 buyer questions, three engines, two runs each), 5 October 2026. An answer can cite several types, so the bars do not sum to 100%.
Three things stand out.
- The lists dominate. "Best agencies" lists made up 528 of the 1,082 citations we logged, or 49%. The median answer cited five of them.
- Agencies' own pages come second. 80 of the 108 answers cited at least one agency's service or company page.
- Everything else is thinner. Directories appeared in 29 answers, LinkedIn articles in 15 and Reddit threads in 8.
The engines also differ.
| Source type | All answers (of 108) | ChatGPT (of 36) | Gemini (of 36) | Perplexity (of 36) |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| "Best agencies" lists | 91 | 21 | 36 | 34 |
| Agencies' own service or company pages | 80 | 27 | 29 | 24 |
| Directories and marketplaces | 29 | 8 | 9 | 12 |
| LinkedIn articles | 15 | 0 | 0 | 15 |
| Reddit threads | 8 | 4 | 4 | 0 |

Gemini cited a list in every answer. ChatGPT leaned on them least: it cited agencies' own pages in more answers than lists, 27 to 21. Every answer that cited a LinkedIn article came from Perplexity.
Who writes the lists AI cites?
Mostly the agencies on them.
Thirty lists were cited in four or more answers. One was offline when we went back to it, so we opened and read the other 29.
Who published the lists AI cited most
One square per list
Of the 30 most-cited lists, 24 list their publisher first, 2 list their publisher lower down, 3 leave their publisher out and 1 was offline when re-checked.
Source: The 30 lists cited in four or more of the 108 answers, read on 5 October 2026. One list on a co-founder's personal site is counted as his agency's.
In 26 of the 29, the publisher appears on its own list. In 24, it sits first.
What this means for you:
- Read an AI shortlist as a summary. Three in four citations (816 of 1,082) went to "best agencies" lists or to agencies' own pages.
- Treat it as a list of who is visible. It shows which agencies appear across those pages. Whose work moves results is a separate question.
- Open the sources. Check who published each page under the answer before you weigh what it says.
This page is one of those lists.
Ranking Atlas publishes it, appears in it and sits first in it. That is why the ten are grouped and not ranked, why every third-party description comes from the agency's own site, and why the guide's view of Ranking Atlas is labelled as opinion.
How Were These Agencies Chosen and Checked?
Ranking Atlas chose each agency because its own site describes an AI search, GEO or AEO service and states a B2B software, SaaS, technology or enterprise focus. Every description was checked on the agency's own pages on 29 September 2026 and again on 5 October 2026. Client results, prices and third-party rankings are left out.
The rules behind the list:
- Own-site evidence only. Each entry reports what the agency states on its own website. "Not stated" means only that the detail was not found on the pages checked.
- B2B software fit stated by the agency. Agencies with a broad consumer, local or eCommerce client base and no stated B2B software focus were left out.
- No client results. Uplifts and case-study figures are self-reported and cannot be checked from outside, so none are repeated.
- No prices. Pricing varies by scope and changes often. Read published prices on each agency's own site on the day you compare.
The re-check changed one entry. One agency in the digital PR group had reworded their own description, and their entry follows the current wording.
The list is grouped by engagement model, and the order within each group carries no ranking.
The same method underpins how Ranking Atlas measures AI visibility: a fixed prompt set, named engines and a date on every run, as set out in our guide to measuring brand visibility in AI search.
Which Agency Specialises in AI SEO?
Ranking Atlas is the AI SEO specialist in this guide, and in this guide's assessment a strong option for companies that want AI to recommend them. It treats GEO, AEO and AI SEO as one discipline, built around one outcome: B2B software and technology companies named when their buyers ask ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity, Claude or Google's AI answers.
Ask first: "Show us the prompt set and the baseline you would report against before we sign."
Ranking Atlas
Ranking Atlas, the AI SEO agency founded by Daniel Grainger in 2026, serving B2B software and technology companies in the UK and US.
Ranking Atlas works on one question: when your buyers ask AI for a solution like yours, is your company one of the names they get back? It works online and serves both markets.
In this guide's assessment, Ranking Atlas is a strong option for B2B software and technology companies that want AI to recommend them. That is an opinion, scoped to this guide, and the publisher's own.
Every Ranking Atlas engagement follows three stages:
-
Baseline
Ranking Atlas documents what AI says about your category today: who is named, which sources are cited and where your company is missing, against named competitors.
-
Build
Original research, editorial production and earned citations in the sources AI engines already retrieve. The aim is independent pages that name your company.
-
Measure
Ranking Atlas re-runs the same buyer questions and reports at prompt level, with branded and non-branded visibility kept separate.
Ranking Atlas's public record, with dates:
- Research coverage in nine outlets, including Metro, Forbes, Yorkshire Post and The Intermediary (as of 24 September 2026).
- Verified placements in Birmingham Live, This is Money, Blackpool Gazette and MSN (24 September 2026).
How a Ranking Atlas engagement works:
- A free strategy call. A live review of how AI search sees your website, which competitors already appear in AI answers for your category, and a clear roadmap.
- One monthly budget, from $999 to $20,000+. No fixed tiers. Every budget starts with foundations: an AI visibility baseline, entity and technical foundations, and a monthly report.
- Deliverables added as the budget grows. Onsite content, then offsite content, editorial links and owned authority channels (LinkedIn, then YouTube), with change tracked against the baseline.
- Digital PR Campaigns. Scoped separately.
Ranking Atlas deliverables and pricing are published on the homepage, and the exact scope is agreed on the strategy call.
Suited to: B2B software and technology companies that want to be named when their buyers ask AI, with earned citations and prompt-level measurement behind the work.
Which AI SEO Agencies Lead With Content?
Omniscient Digital, Foundation Marketing, Animalz and Omnius lead with content. They describe themselves as SEO, content or organic growth agencies for B2B software companies, and list GEO or AEO services alongside that work. This model suits companies whose gap is content: too few pages that answer buyer questions directly.
It also fits a library that ranks in search but is rarely cited in AI answers.
Ask first: "Which of our existing pages would you rework first, and how will you show the change in AI answers?"
Omniscient Digital
In their own words, they are "an organic growth agency that helps B2B software businesses turn SEO, GEO, and content into growth channels."
- GEO work they list: competitor and citation analysis, technical analysis, a GEO roadmap, execution across content, brand mentions and technical work, and ongoing monitoring of LLM mentions and visibility.
- Who they say they serve: CMOs, VPs of Marketing and Directors of SEO who need to drive pipeline.
- Base: they list offices in Austin, Texas (first), New York, San Francisco, Chicago and Boston.
Suited to: B2B software teams wanting SEO, content and GEO run as one pipeline-focused programme.
Foundation Marketing
They state that they help "B2B teams to develop and implement Generative Engine Optimization (GEO) strategies that drive growth."
- GEO process they set out: discovery and strategy, content development and engagement, then performance optimisation and reporting, with weekly tracking of key metrics.
- Industries they list: B2B SaaS, AI companies, martech, cybersecurity, developer tools, and data and analytics, among others.
- Base: they list their address in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
Suited to: B2B tech brands that want GEO grounded in published citation research and content distribution.
Animalz
Their site presents them as a content marketing and SEO agency for B2B SaaS brands, offering "a conversion-focused, AI-enabled, thoroughly measured SEO / AEO (Answer Engine Optimization) program."
- AEO work they list: an AI visibility audit across Google AI Overviews, ChatGPT, Perplexity and Gemini; an AI search strategy; micro content refreshes; new content covering priority prompts; citation outreach; Reddit engagement; and measurement and reporting.
- Base: started in New York in 2015 and now remote-based, with team members in countries including the US, Canada and the UK.
Suited to: SaaS content teams adding AEO, through refreshes, citation outreach and Reddit work, to an existing content programme.
Omnius
They describe themselves as "a B2B SEO & GEO agency; partnering up exclusively with SaaS, Fintech & AI companies."
- Services they list: content marketing, B2B SEO, generative engine optimisation, answer engine optimisation, programmatic SEO, and development and CRO.
- How they define GEO: "the practice of getting your brand cited, described accurately, and recommended inside answers from large language models such as ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, and Claude."
- Base: remote-first, with headquarters in London and Belgrade; they also list Dubai.
Suited to: SaaS, fintech and AI companies wanting SEO and GEO from one agency.
Which AI SEO Agency Leads With Technical Depth?
iPullRank leads with technical depth. They frame AI search as a retrieval problem: how models find passages, split pages into chunks and select which sources to cite. That makes them a fit for larger software companies with complex sites, where the first question is how machines read the site, before how the copy reads to people.
Ask first: "What stops AI engines reading our site today, and how did you test that?"
iPullRank
Their own label is an "Enterprise and Mid-Market AI Search Agency". They call their approach relevance engineering: "the science behind understanding how AI models identify and select information, then structuring your content for visibility."
- How they define GEO: "the strategy for optimizing your website and content for visibility in AI Search."
- Engagement tiers: Emerging (start-ups and new brands), Growth (mid-market and challenger brands) and Elite (Fortune 500s and category leaders).
- Base: not stated on the pages checked.
Suited to: enterprise and larger mid-market software companies wanting technical depth on how AI retrieval and citation work.
Which AI SEO Agencies Lead With Digital PR?
Siege Media and Crackle PR lead with digital PR and earned citations. They treat AI visibility as the result of what other sources say about a brand: research and coverage that publishers pick up, and that AI engines then retrieve. This model suits companies whose own site is sound but whose name is missing from third-party sources.
Ask first: "Which publications do AI engines already cite in our category, and which of them have you earned coverage in?"
Weighing digital PR as its own purchase instead? Our comparison of digital PR agencies for B2B SaaS sorts that market by engagement model, and infrastructure vendors can narrow it with the technically fluent PR agencies for cloud and data infrastructure.
Siege Media
Their homepage reads "Full-service GEO. We make brands the answer in search." They call themselves "a GEO agency built for the new search" and state that they work through prompt and citation data to find gaps in AI mentions and recommendations.
- GEO work they list: research reports and digital PR; bottom-of-funnel content such as comparison and pricing pages; Reddit and community presence; affiliate partnerships on editorial roundup sites; content refreshes "quarterly or faster" through their DataFlywheel technology; and interactive assets such as calculators.
- Sectors they list: SaaS, fintech and cybersecurity, among others.
- Base: they list offices in Austin (first), New York City, Chicago and San Francisco.
Suited to: SaaS brands wanting GEO driven by data-led content, digital PR, Reddit and affiliate placements.
Crackle PR
Their site describes "a B2B tech PR agency built for earned media and AI search visibility". They state that generative engine optimisation "isn't an SEO trick" and call it "the earned-media outcome of a PR program done right."
- GEO work they list: earned media in the outlets LLMs weight, structured schema, llms.txt, and monthly citation-share reporting across ChatGPT, Perplexity, Claude, Gemini and Google AI Overviews.
- Who they say they serve: B2B tech, AI, cybersecurity and fintech brands.
- Base: they describe themselves as remote-first, headquartered in the Boston area with a US-based team. Founded in 2020; their founder is Parry Headrick.
Suited to: B2B tech companies that want earned media coverage engineered to be cited by AI engines.
Which AI SEO Agencies Run It Inside a Wider B2B Marketing Programme?
Directive and Gripped run GEO inside a wider B2B marketing programme. Both call themselves B2B marketing agencies and list GEO alongside SEO, paid media and pipeline-focused services, so the AI visibility work sits next to the rest of the demand engine. This model suits companies that want one partner across several channels rather than a specialist for each.
Ask first: "Who on your team owns AI visibility, and how much of the fee goes to it?"
Directive
By their own description they are a B2B marketing agency. They position their GEO service around visibility "inside ChatGPT, Gemini, large language models (LLMs), and AI-powered search engines."
- GEO process they set out: entity and topic mapping, AI content optimisation, structured data deployment, an indexing and visibility boost, and performance and AI visibility tracking.
- Sectors they list: technology, industrial and services.
- Other services: content marketing, paid media, PR and revenue operations, plus a separate answer engine optimisation service page.
- Base: they list six locations: Orange County, Austin, New York City, Mexico City, London and Toronto.
Suited to: B2B tech teams wanting GEO tied into paid media, content and revenue operations under one agency.
Gripped
Their own description is "a specialist B2B marketing agency based in London", working on demand generation, paid media, SEO and GEO. They define GEO as "the practice of improving how a company appears in AI-generated answers and recommendations."
- GEO work they list: a GEO audit, content architecture, entity and authority building, structured data and schema, and monitoring and iteration.
- Who they say they serve: only B2B SaaS and tech companies, from Series A to £50m in annual recurring revenue.
- Where they say GEO matters most: competitive categories, companies that have invested in SEO without matching AI visibility, and new or emerging categories.
- Base: Borough High Street, London SE1.
Suited to: B2B SaaS and tech companies from Series A upwards wanting GEO alongside SEO and demand generation from a London-based agency.
Which AI SEO Agencies Are Based in the UK?
Ranking Atlas works online and serves B2B software and technology companies in the UK and US. Gripped is based in London, and Omnius lists London as one of two headquarters, alongside Belgrade. Directive lists London among six locations. Animalz is remote, with team members in the UK. The other agencies list US bases or none.
Where an agency is based matters less than whether it measures the market you sell into.
A UK prompt set needs three things a US one lacks:
- UK phrasing. The words and spellings your buyers type.
- UK competitors. The vendors a British buyer weighs you against.
- UK context. Local regulation, and prices in pounds.
The sources an engine cites for a UK question are not always the sources it cites for the same question asked from the US.
If the UK is your first market, ask each agency two things: whether it builds a separate UK prompt set or reuses a US one, and which UK publications it has earned coverage in. Fifteen UK agencies, selected from what the engines name for UK buyer questions, are compared in our guide to AI SEO agencies in the UK.
How Do You Choose an AI SEO Agency?
Choose an AI SEO agency in five steps: name the gap, match it to an engagement model, check that the agency states a B2B software focus, ask how it will measure results, then compare quotes against the same scoped deliverables. The gap decides the model, and the model narrows the list to two or three agencies worth a call.
| If your gap is | Model that fits | Agencies in this guide |
|---|---|---|
| Too few pages that answer buyer questions | Content-led | Omniscient Digital, Foundation Marketing, Animalz, Omnius |
| A complex site that engines struggle to read | Technical | iPullRank |
| Missing from the sources engines cite | AI SEO specialist or digital PR-led | Ranking Atlas, Siege Media, Crackle PR |
| Several channels to run through one partner | Integrated B2B marketing | Directive, Gripped |

-
Name the gap
Run your buyers' category questions through ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini and Google AI Overviews. Note whether you are named, who is named instead, and which sources are cited.
-
Match the gap to a model
Use the table above. Thin pages point to a content-led agency, a hard-to-read site to a technical one, and absence from cited sources to an AI SEO specialist or a digital PR-led agency.
-
Check the stated fit
Read each agency's own site for a stated B2B software, SaaS or technology focus, the company stages it works with, and where it is based.
-
Ask how results will be measured
Ask for the prompt set, the engines, the date of the baseline and a sample report. Measurement should be defined before work starts.
-
Compare scoped quotes
Give two or three agencies the same brief and compare what each commits to deliver, the minimum term and the reporting, not the headline price alone.
How Do You Verify an AI SEO Agency's Results Before You Sign?
Verify an AI SEO agency's results by asking for the evidence behind them: the dated prompt set, the engines checked, the baseline and a report that separates branded from non-branded prompts. A percentage uplift without the prompts behind it cannot be checked. Re-run a few of the prompts yourself and see whether the answers match.
The branded split matters most.
Prompts that contain your brand name retrieve your own site and coverage about you, so visibility on them comes easily. Prompts your buyers ask before they know you are where AI SEO earns its fee.
Two kinds of prompt, two different measurements
Branded prompt
- "[Your brand] reviews"
- "[Your brand] vs [competitor]"
- The engine retrieves
- Your own site and coverage about you.
- What it shows
- Whether AI describes you accurately. Visibility here comes easily.
Non-branded prompt: the one to watch
- "Best [category] software for [use case]"
- "Which [category] vendors should we shortlist?"
- The engine retrieves
- The sources it trusts on your category.
- What it shows
- Whether AI recommends you to buyers who have not heard of you.
A few more checks help:
- Ask for live examples. A cited answer in ChatGPT or Perplexity on a non-branded prompt, reproducible on the day you check.
- Check the sources. If the agency claims earned citations, ask for the URLs of the coverage and check they are live and editorial.
- Check the dates. AI answers change from run to run, so a single screenshot proves less than a series of dated runs.
Our checklist for verifying an agency's results before you sign covers seven checks in more depth.
The method for measuring brand visibility in AI search shows what a sound prompt-level report contains.
How Much Does an AI SEO Agency Cost?
AI SEO agency pricing varies by scope, engagement model and contract length, so ask each agency for a quote against defined deliverables. Several agencies on this list publish prices on their own sites; read them there on the day you compare, because published prices change. Minimum terms and what counts as in scope also move the real cost.
What moves a quote:
- Model. Content-led work is priced on production capacity, digital PR on campaigns or coverage effort, technical work on site complexity, and integrated programmes on the number of channels.
- Scope. A foundation phase covering baseline, diagnosis and priority fixes is a different purchase from an ongoing programme that executes a roadmap.
- Term. Minimum contract lengths differ between agencies, and a lower monthly figure over a longer minimum term is not always the smaller commitment.
- Third-party costs. Research panels, data, paid distribution and specialist production are often quoted separately.
Ranking Atlas publishes its pricing in one place, the Ranking Atlas deliverables and pricing section of its homepage: one monthly budget from $999 to $20,000+, with no fixed tiers.
What Contract Terms Should a B2B Software Buyer Ask About?
Ask about the minimum term, the notice period, what is in and out of scope, who owns the prompt set and data, the reporting cadence, and which costs sit outside the fee. Terms vary between agencies and between engagement models, so get each one in writing before comparing quotes side by side.
- Minimum term and notice. How long you commit for, and how much notice ends the engagement after that.
- Scope. What the fee buys each month, what counts as extra, and how extra work is quoted.
- Data ownership. Whether the prompt set, baseline and tracking data transfer to you if the engagement ends.
- Reporting. How often you get a report, what it contains, and whether it separates branded from non-branded prompts.
- Guarantees. AI answers are generated by third parties, so treat any guarantee of being named or cited with care, and ask exactly what happens if it is not met.
FAQ
Can you ask ChatGPT which AI SEO agency to hire?
You can, and it is a fair way to start a list. Check the sources under the answer before you trust it. In Ranking Atlas's one-day sample of 108 answers from ChatGPT, Gemini and Perplexity on 5 October 2026, 91 cited at least one "best agencies" list, and 26 of the 29 most-cited lists still online were published by a company that appears on its own list.
How long does AI SEO take to show results?
There is no fixed timeline, because it depends on where your brand starts and how contested your category is. What you can fix upfront is the measurement: a dated baseline before work starts, the same prompt set re-run on a schedule, and a report of movement against that baseline. Ask each agency what change it expects to report at the first review and how it will show it.
Can my current SEO agency do AI SEO?
Some can. AI engines retrieve from the same web that search indexes, so strong technical SEO and content still matter. The test is whether your agency already tracks your brand across ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini and Google AI Overviews on a fixed prompt set, and whether it works on the third-party sources those engines cite, not only on your own pages.
Is AI SEO worth it for an early-stage software company?
Check before you spend. Ask the engines the questions your buyers ask about your category and note which brands they name and which sources they cite. If competitors are named and you are absent, that gap is the case for the work. If nobody in your category is named yet, a smaller foundation phase comes before a monthly programme.
What should an AI SEO agency report every month?
A monthly report should show the same dated prompt set, the engines checked, whether your brand was named on each prompt, which URLs were cited, and which competitors appeared alongside you. Branded and non-branded prompts belong in separate lines. Activity lists, such as articles published or outreach sent, belong underneath the results, not in place of them.
Agency descriptions checked on each agency's own site on 29 September 2026, re-checked on 5 October 2026, and reviewed as positioning changes. AI answer data collected on 5 October 2026. Corrections welcome: contact@ranking-atlas.com.
