How this library works

What this is

Each page presents a single indicator as a complete ranking across every country or area with published data, alongside how that ranking has moved over time. Figures are drawn directly from the primary publisher and are not re-weighted, re-ordered, or adjusted. Every page carries the source, the retrieval date, a downloadable CSV, a methodology note, and a citation line.

How datasets are selected

A dataset is published when it meets four conditions. The figures originate with an international organisation, a national statistical agency, a government register, or a peer-reviewed source with redistribution rights. The reuse terms of the source are public and recorded on the page. The indicator definition, coverage, and revision history are verifiable from the publisher's own documentation. The series is maintained on a known cadence; when the source revises, the page and its CSV are rebuilt from the new release.

Verification

Before publication each dataset passes a fixed checklist: the source table is retrieved directly from the publisher, aggregate rows and non-comparable areas are removed, units are checked against the publisher's definitions, and adjacent releases are compared to catch silent changes in classification. Corrections are made with a visible note on the page, not silently.

Reuse and citation

Every dataset page may be cited, quoted, or reproduced with attribution and a link. The citation format is stated at the foot of each page, and the full data travels with every page as CSV. Journalists and researchers may request working files through the contact page.

Where Ranking Atlas publishes data it has compiled itself, such as property transaction records or structured listing samples, the compilation method is documented to the same standard.
